BackBeat City is proud to offer classes in diverse dance forms. Please click on the links below for more information about the styles of dance we have to offer.
Ballet
Ballet is the foundation for all forms of dance, whether it be Ballet, Ballroom or even modern Hip-Hop! In Ballet we provide a solid groundwork for body movement and steps with a focus on body placement which consists of proper posture, poise, and grace along with stretching and strengthening for balance and control. Ballet classes will consist of a warm-up, exercises at the barre, in the center, and across the floor. Students will also learn a dance to be performed at the biannual Learn Love end of semester show. Ballet and other movement classes are highly recommended for students participating in our Show Choirs and Musical Theater as well.
Youth Ballet (ages 5 – 9) meets on Mondays 4:45 – 5:30pm.
Intermediate Ballet (ages 10 – 18) meets on Tuesdays 6:45 – 7:45pm.

Hip Hop is a simple, all inclusive modern dance which combines break dancing, jazz, and street. Hip Hop class helps you loosen up, if you’re just starting out it’s the perfect way to get into dance, or if you have ample dance experience Hip Hop will bring new skills to the table, helping you expand your horizons. In class we work on Hip Hop basics: popping technique, waving, gliding, tutting, and more. Hip Hop is an expressive form of dance and a feel that everyone has in them. In class we work to bring out that creativity through movement. Hip Hop routines are also performed by the Show Choirs and at the biannual Learn Love end of semester show. Hip Hop and other movement classes are highly recommended for students participating in our Show Choirs and Musical Theater.

In Jazz class we learn turns, jumps, leaps, stretching, and strengthening exercises along with fun combinations to upbeat music. Students will also put together a dance to be performed at the biannual Learn Love end of semester show. Jazz and other movement classes are highly recommended for students participating in our Show Choirs and Musical Theater.

Tap
Tap is the most musical form of dance. In tap we will go through both styles: Broadway and Rhythm. Broadway style is what you generally see in most musicals, we will learn to dance high on the balls of the feet keeping the arms sharp. Rhythm is more focused on different rhythm combinations and is also more grounded. Classes will be comprised of both styles as we focus on learning exercises for rhythm and musicality. Tap students will be performing at the biannual Learn Love end of semester show. Tap and other movement classes are highly recommended for students participating in our Show Choirs and Musical Theater.
